Leadership Pioneer Jim Kouzes to Address the Lasting Truths of Leadership: Keynote and Breakfast Open to the Public

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CHICAGO:  Jim Kouzes, a world-renowned leadership pioneer, was announced today as the guest speaker at the Center for Values-Driven Leadership’s upcoming Leadership Lecture & Breakfast. Jim will speak on “The Truth about Leadership: Five Enduring Facts that Drive Business Success.”

Jim recalls a time when he was sharing the platform with renowned leadership educator Ken Blanchard at an association meeting. In the middle of responding to an audience question about his and coauthor Barry Posner’s research into the qualities of leadership, Jim was saying, “I don’t know what you call something that’s been the same for twenty-five years, but...,” and Ken interrupted him, exclaiming, “I’d call it the truth.”

“It was a moment of clarity,” Jim says. “We began to see that we shouldn’t be shy about saying that some things about leadership just don’t change that much over time, if at all, and that those things need to be understood for what they are—the truth.”

Jim will address these truths at the upcoming breakfast on Thursday, September 16th at the Union League Club of Chicago. He will discuss a few of the most enduring lessons he and Barry Posner have learned from their recent analyses of global data from 1 million respondents to their Leadership Practices Inventory and from their work on their newest book, The Truth About Leadership: The No-Fads, to the Heart-of-the-Matter Facts You Need to Know.

Jim, with Barry Posner, is the awarding-winning author of “The Leadership Challenge,” a best-selling business leadership text selected as one of the Amazon Editor’s Best Business Books of 2007. Over 2 million copies are in print. Cited by The Wall Street Journal as one of the best leadership educators of all time, Jim is also an experienced executive, serving formerly as the CEO of the Tom Peters Company.

The public is welcome at this event, though advance registration ($60/person) is required. For more information or to register, please contact Amber Johnson at 312.316.0680 or amberjohnson@ben.edu.
