Program Faculty

Thomas J. Griffin, Ph.D. Vice President, Organizational Learning & Chief Teaching Officer
U.S. Cellular

Tom is currently responsible for the design and execution of the company-wide learning and organization development strategy. In this role, he ensures that associates and leaders at all levels are provided with the training, education and developmental experiences needed to deliver the ideal customer experience and build a culture of sustainable excellence. Prior to joining U.S. Cellular in 2000, Griffin held a variety of positions focused on leadership & organizational development with SBC/Ameritech, Texas Instruments, and the U.S. Army. He has extensive experience in the leadership & organization development field, change management, and adult learning methodology.

Griffin holds a bachelor of science degree in computer science from Fitchburg State College; master's degrees in general business and management of engineering technology from Amber University; a master's degree in organization development & change management from the University of Texas at Dallas; and a doctorate in organization development from Benedictine University. He is a published author, frequent conference speaker, and a U.S. Cellular President's Award winner. He and his wife reside in Algonquin, Ill.

Jim "Gus" Gustafson, Ph.D. Leadership Scholar-in-Residence & Director of Executive Education Programs

Gus currently leads the creation, marketing, management and teaching of the center's Executive Education Programs and emerging Ph.D. / DBA Programs in Socially-Responsible Leadership & is responsible for helping to create and sustain the world's premier Center for Values-Driven Leadership. Gus has over twenty years of successful organization development, sales, marketing, operations, leadership development, channel management and general management experience in public, private and non-profit organizations and has won several awards for his work. He consults, speaks, teaches and writes on a variety of topics, including Values-Driven Leadership, Appreciative Inquiry, Corporate Social Responsibility, Organizational & Team Effectiveness, and Servant-Leadership Development. Gus is an active member of and holds leadership positions in several professional organizations.

Gus lives in West Des Moines, IA with his wife and their two children. He is the Founder and Executive Director for the Center for Socially Responsible Leadership, Hope’s Servant-Leader Development Initiative and recently served as the Editor-in-Chief of the Organization Development Journal.
